We continue the discussion about the keystone demo on ONS on yesterday's edge cloud call and today's EC WG call. The detailed progress are kept in the following etherpad page, under the OPNFV bullet. https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/ECG_Keystone_Testing In general, we have made some progress on the demo setup, the resources for the demo, and the test scenarios. 1, for the lab resource, Julien will help to save some resource for the demo. I guess that will be in one of our ZTE lab? is that right, @Julien? 2, for demo setup, Manuel helps to give some introduction about the current progress for XCI. For now, we think we could promote the demo by deploy XCI twice in one lab, there are some manuel work required to setup the keystone federation. Details about the federation deployment are kept in Colleen's blog. http://www.gazlene.net/demystifying-keystone-federation.html Manuel will help look into this and see if it is possible to automate these. But we may need help from the keystone team. 3, for the test scenarios, Georg propose we could look into the impact of network condition, scalability, and hardware limitation, and see how these aspects can impact keystone federation. I am trying to propose the following 3 test cases, and hope we could continue the discussion next week. TC01: add network delay between user agent and identity provider. See how latency influence the federation mechanism TC02: add bandwidth limitation between user agent and identity provider, see how bandwidth influence TC03: creat a scenario with a number of (e.g. 1M) users authenticate together, from a certain nunber (e.g. 2) of service provider. and see how the scalability is for the identity provider. Such case could also be done when there are latency and bandwidth limitation between the user agent and the identity provider. I would like to invite the keystone team and the edge cloud team to discuss about the test cases together during our next call. Thank you. 中国移动研究院 网络与IT技术研究所 付乔 15901025951 From: Georg Kunz Date: 2018-07-31 05:33 To: Csatari, Gergely (Nokia - HU/Budapest); fuqiao at chinamobile.com; rsblendido; Tim Irnich; ildiko CC: trevor.cooper; Periyasamy Palanisamy; zhaoqihui; Manuel Buil Subject: RE: Re: Demo Accepted: OPNFV Testing for Open Infrastructure Federation Hi all, Thanks Gerg0. In the meantime, I have also added two sections to the etherpad: i) Test dimensions: Here I wanted to sketch test parameters beyond the purely functional tests that are/will be implemented in Tempest. The goal is to investigate how OPNFV test tools and environments can contribute to expanding the test coverage implemented in the OpenStack CI. ii) Setup: we haven’t settled yet on the setup we want to use for the demo. This section summarizes a simple proposal which intends to strike a balance between a fully automatic deployment via XCI and manual steps to get a demo up and running in time. Feedback is very welcome. I am sorry if I missed that, but did we agree on a follow up meeting this week? Here it is. We *will* need that new sync service, for any service that is expected to sync its state from edge cloud instances to the central cloud of clouds and support that AAA requirement. And highly likely a new or additional data storage solution for that purpose as well. At very least in order to replicate state changes right and resolve conflicts, inevitable for the described AAA case. The issue is mysql/mariadb/galera database transactional consitency models [1], like read committed or repeatable read, do not support that AAA scenario well. Repeatable read transaction isolation level (TI), and stronger consistency models, are "Unavailable" by design (see [1] for the terminology I'm using here). That means it may require the progress to be stopped (no writes accepted and, sometimes, no reads) to maintain DB consistency for the corner cases, like being partitioned/disconnected off the central cloud. But that is a totally accepted situation for AAA, and it expects writes to proceed for edge cloud instances! On the other hand, the read commited transaction isolation level, while "Totally available", provides really poor consistency guarantees IMO, comparing to the better options (see "Sticky Available"). So I believe that new sync service, backed with another data/KV storage solution, must support the best of existing AA consistency models, like "Sticky Available" causal/RTC [2],[3]. While galera et al inter-sites replication of DB, like it was proposed [4] for Keystone federation might not fit the aforementioned consistency requirements/constraints. Its time to consider tools and options for AAA requirement. WDYT? We have made quite good progress on yesterday's call. Attached is the slides I used yesterday. I think we have reached good consensus on the test scenarios, and 4 possible test cases. We also try to distrubute the whole work into 4 task. And we got Mark and Gabriel stand up on yesterday's call for help on the deployment and test cases development. Julien also contacted me offline after the call that he can also help in the manual deployment and configuration. I would like to say thank you so much for our volunteers. I update the etherpad to include these new updates as well. @Manuel, could you please also share your progress with both Mark and Julien, so that you can collaborate together. OPNFV demo discription and progress updates The following slides discribe the testing scenario, and test cases. https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/EC/Edge+cloud?preview=/20745277/26837474/Keystone%20Federation%20for%20Edge%20Scenario.pptx DEMO TASK If you would like to perticipate in this demo, please also sign your name after each task. •TASK 1: Find lab resource, requirement: -- Julien •two bare metal servers within one lab. •L3 connections between two servers •TASK 2: manually deploy a keystone to keystone environment, follow the instruction from http://www.gazlene.net/demystifying-keystone-federation.html -- Manuel, Mark Beierl, Julien •TASK 3: Try XCI for automating the deployment and configuration process (depend on experience from TASK 2) -- Manuel •TASK 4: develop test cases (depend on environment provided by TASK 2) -- Gabriel, Mark Beierl 中国移动研究院 网络与IT技术研究所 付乔 15901025951 From: fuqiao Date: 2018-08-02 17:08 To: georg.kunz; gergely.csatari; rsblendido; tim.irnich; ildiko CC: trevor.cooper; periyasamy.palanisamy; zhaoqihui; Manuel Buil; opnfv-tech-discuss; edge-computing Subject: Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] Demo Accepted: OPNFV Testing for Open Infrastructure Federation Hi, all. The idea is to build together a community cloud based on Edge technology. We're looking for volunteers: Developers Try out the newest software version from your projects like Nova, Cinder, and Neutron. What's the requirements for Edge and what makes sense? Install different components on different devices and connects all of them. Operators Operation of Edge Cloud is also a challenge. Changes from 'must be online' to 'maybe online'. Which measuring methods are available for monitoring? Where are my backups? Do we need an operation center also in the Edge? Architects General Edge Cloud Architecture. How is the plan for connecting new devices with different connectivity. Scalable application and life cycle management. Bring your own devices like laptop, Raspberry PI, WIFI routers, which you would connect to the Edge Cloud. We host the event location and provide infrastructure, maybe together with a couple of 5G devices, because the venue has one of the first 5G antennas in Germany. Everybody is welcome to join and have fun. We are only limited on the event space. More details are also in the event description. Don't be afraid to ask me directly, via e-mail or IRC. kind regards Frank (eumel8) Registration: https://openstack-hackathon-berlin.eventbrite.com/ Collected ideas/workpad: https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/hacking_the_edge_hackathon_berlin From ildiko at openstack.org Mon Aug 27 18:33:08 2018 From: ildiko at openstack.org (Ildiko Vancsa) Date: Mon, 27 Aug 2018 14:33:08 -0400 Subject: [Edge-computing] Early Bird Pricing Ends Tomorrow - OpenStack Summit Berlin Message-ID: <7A986260-6081-47BF-91D9-B84CEA6B32CC@openstack.org> Hi everyone, Friendly reminder that the early bird ticket price deadline for the OpenStack Summit Berlin is tomorrow, August 28 at 11:59pm PT (August 29, 6:59 UTC). URL: From ildiko at openstack.org Tue Aug 28 19:44:59 2018 From: ildiko at openstack.org (Ildiko Vancsa) Date: Tue, 28 Aug 2018 21:44:59 +0200 Subject: [Edge-computing] Preparation for the Forum in Berlin starts now Message-ID: Hi, As I mentioned today on the weekly call as the next OpenStack Summit is approaching it is time to start to think about ideas for the Forum (https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Forum) in Berlin. For those of you who are new to the concept Forum provides a feedback loop between developers and users and gives an opportunity to do strategic planning for upcoming releases of OSF projects in the form of 40-minute long collaborative sessions in parallel to the conference. The participants use etherpad to plan the agenda and capture the notes from the sessions which have a format of open discussion. We are currently in the brainstorming phase for Forum topics. The purpose of this period is to identify areas for feedback or new requirements and collect ideas for cross-project discussions and planning that are also relevant for users. Please note that the more deep dive technical discussions are supposed to happen at the PTG, the purpose of the Forum is to involve users and operators as well in the conversations. As we have a limited number of slots it is very important to reduce duplications during the brainstorming phase. To collect ideas I created an etherpad: https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/ECGBerlinForumBrainstorming __The Forum session proposal period starts on September 12 and closes on September 26.__ Please let me know if you have any questions. I decided to share what I did and what are my current probelms to 1) inform the team about the progress 2) keep a record for myself 3) hoping for help and/or hints. So I did this: 1) Get an Ubuntu 2) Install devstack with enable_plugin keystone git://git.openstack.org/openstack/keystone enable_service keystone-saml2-federation Here I already ran into some package maangement issues due to some libcurl3 and libcurl4 incompatibility issue what I solved using https://launchpad.net/~xapienz/+archive/ubuntu/curl34 3) Install the Keystone tempest plugin 4) Build a Shibboleth IdP container based on https://github.com/Unicon/shibboleth-idp-dockerized with the configuration I believe is correct. I have a feeling that we will need to set a proper organisation for this if we want to publish this to Docker Hub. By the way is there a container registry maintained in the OpenStack development infra? 5) Run the container and expose 8080, 4443 and 8443 ports This is a half success. Shibboleth contacts Keystone (or actually the Shibboleth apache module) for metadata update, but it works only on the first attempt. The regular updates are not working for some reason. Also I was not able to get a positive answer from the status script of Shibboleth itself, so i just decided to move a bit forward. 6) Set idp_url to https://localhost:8080/idp/profile/SAML2/SOAP/ECP in _request_unscoped_token inside the Keystone tempest plugin. Here I have no idea where the configuration is actually stores and where should I set this in a nice way. 7) Run the tempest tests. Now here I get an error message which tells me about SSL version numbers (hands.hake: Error([('SSL routines', 'ssl3_get_record', 'wrong version number')],)",),))). I tried to use different ssl versions with Curl, but it complains about the lack of support in libsso. So here I am now. Things what I deffinetly should figure out: - Make this work 😉 - Set the idp address in the correct place - Figure out how to start a Container in a Keystone plugin or a tempest plugin - Figure out ow to integrate with CI Any comments are welcome. Br, Gerg0 Curl 3 and 4 : Evgeny Brazgin - launchpad.net launchpad.net PPA contains libcurl4 package, which supports both libcurl3 and libcurl4 API. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
