Today with had a presentation from INRIA, delivered by Marie Delavergne.
The topic of the presentation was an approach to edge deployments to be able to share data and resources between edge sites. In the evaluation work the sites were separate standalone OpenStack instances. The prerequisite of this approach is to have a platform that has a modular architecture.
You can find the slides with the list of challenges and details of the solution here: http://people.rennes.inria.fr/Adrien.Lebre/PUBLIC/OpenStack-EdgeWG-STACK.pdf
The group’s roadmap includes making their solution agnostic to be able to use it with Kubernetes and other projects as well. As edge sites can get very small they also plan to include IoT and other end devices as well in their scope.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss the topic further please reply to this thread. You can also reach out to Marie directly, her contact info is in the slides above.
Thanks and Best Regards,
