Hi, Vacation season kicked in and a couple of you let me know that they will not be around in the next two weeks. What's next for the OpenInfra Edge Computing Group?! - INPUT NEEDED

Hi, I’m reaching out to you as a follow up to our weekly call this Monday. During the meeting we had a brief recap of the recent OpenInfra Summit and then we started to look into what’s next for the working group. We started the latter topic with questions, such as: * Is the “edge” still a relevant topic? - Is it a specific enough topic for a working group like ours? * What challenges people are facing that are in scope for our group? * How can we make the working group more relevant to people in the industry today and onwards? We then continued with taking a deeper dive into finding answers, and asking more questions. We touched on the following topics: * Topic areas that have been interesting and in scope for the WG - Automation - Orchestration - Distributed Infrastructure ~ Does not include IoT, which was acceptable to people on the call * Challenges we had in the past with setting up PoCs - Setting up proof-of-concept environments is very challenging in itself - We didn’t always have the resources, or expertise or either - Could this be something to tackle in another way? * Idea - Talk about relevant projects in the space in a more practical way, including ~ Demos ~ Pros and cons ~ Challenges it addresses or that it still has - Provide information that a PoC would give, without setting them up ourselves As a next step __we also need YOUR input!__ What do you think about the above questions and idea? What would you be interested in hearing and talking about? What are your challenges that you need solutions for, that this group could help you with? I’m looking forward to hearing from you!
