Hi All, I'm reaching out to you with some updates. Edge AI IEEE paper: A few folks from the authors of the latest white paper our group has published put together an article to include in an IEEE publication. We've received review comments, which the group will need to address in the coming weeks. It is great news overall, as most of the comments are straightforward to fix and it is a good sign that the article will be published once we have the new revision. OpenInfra Summit Europe is happening this weekend, Beth Cohen and I are doing a presentation to talk about the new Edge AI white paper. As we'll be both in transit afterward, we will be unavailable to lead the next call on October 20. Hi Everyone, The working group participants are currently focusing on writing a new whitepaper. Along with that goal we spent today's call as a working session to go through content and comments that people contributed to the document so far. During our conversation today we focused on areas such as strategy to define terms like 'edge' and 'AI'. We also went into a bit of detail on our desire to cover hardware considerations, and the group gravitated towards having follow-up articles to do deep dives on certain topics that the paper doesn't have the bandwidth to cover. As we are still in the brainstorming phase, we have been collecting topic ares and have been debating the scope of the paper. We also discussed the opportunity of planning for multiple papers, as it seems like we might have enough content for that. The Intersection of Edge and AI Whitepaper - Call for Collaborators

Hi, The OpenInfra Edge Computing Group is currently exploring to write its next whitepaper in the topic areas of Edge and AI, and how they intersect. As AI is developing quickly, the devices need to keep up with the demand of processing, moving and storing large amounts of data. In many use cases, this cannot be achieved without using Edge Computing methods and architectures. Our working group will focus on uncovering requirements towards infrastructure, the building blocks that are already available, gaps, architectures, and more. Do you have an AI use case or case study to share? Is your Edge infrastructure already utilized for AI workloads or is planned to be? Hi All, With the upcoming holiday period the availability of our core group is very limited during December. For that reason we decided to cancel those calls and let everyone focus on the end-of-year tasks. __The next Edge WG call will be held in January, 2025.__ The first half of next year the working group will focus on creating a new whitepaper, which will target the intersection of AI and Edge Computing. As AI is developing quickly, the devices need to keep up with the demand of processing, moving and storing large amounts of data. In many use cases, this cannot be achieved without using Edge Computing methods and architectures. We will deep dive into this topic on the next working group call. Just a heads up that we removed two messages from the archive and blocked the offending subscriber. They seem to be engaging in an "organic SEO" scheme where they post seemingly on-topic questions in various online forums while embedding keyword-adjacent links to a particular company's products and services. It was not someone seeking actual information on this group's activities and so there is no reason to reply to them. We'll try to keep an eye out for any similar sorts of spam in the future. The project is exploring the areas of automated and declarative ways to service lifecycle management, Infrastructure as Code, and distributed control functions. Pick a day for the vPTG session - ACTION NEEDED

Hi, We agreed on the weekly call yesterday that our working group will participate in the upcoming virtual Project Teams Gathering (PTG). The event is happening online on April 8 - 12. We agreed to book a time interval that overlaps with the time slot we have for the weekly meetings. However, it was raised yesterday, that April 8 might not be the best day that week to hold our session. Hi All, I’m reaching out to you about the next virtual Project Teams Gathering (PTG)[1] event, which will take place April 8-12, 2024. The PTG is a contributor-focused event, where project teams and working groups get together to discuss topics that are relevant for them. Topics include roadmap planning and priorities, long outstanding feature or enhancements discussions, release planning, and more. The Edge Computing Group has been participating in these events for a while now, it is a great opportunity to extend our meeting time and go deeper into topics that are important for us.
