If I only care about Ubuntu Jammy+ and podman (and quay.io of course), should I expect any issues?
No issues for these cases. In particular podman can be configured to talk to mirrors for arbitrary image sources allowing speculative testing of those images to be performed transparently in the CI system. Additionally Jammy has packages for podman that don't rely on the Kubic repo (older Ubuntu relies on Kubic and Kubic is deprecated for those platforms).
I am open to collaborating on this aspect.
Our plan in OpenDev is to switch gears towards moving deployments to podman. Once we are not reliant on Docker then we can switch the image hosting anywhere we like.
